Tech Tips & Tricks: Working with 3DM-GX3®-25 Update Mode MicroStrain's 3DM-GX3® -25 inertial sensor has been designed to allow the user to update its firmware. This is done by putting the sensor into "update" mode, uploading the new firmware, and returning to idle mode. If the sensor is left in "update" mode, is inadvertently programmed into "update" mode, or is forced into "update" mode by a very noisy serial line or crosstalk on the serial line, the device is unable to respond to normal communications. This will appear to the user as if the device has failed. This technical note seeks to help the user understand and troubleshoot the issue, and return the device to idle mode. Robotics Trends Virtual Show Features MicroStrain Presenation "Understanding and Using GPS/INS Sensors in Robotics Applications" Last week, MicroStrain participated in the Robotics Trends Virtual Event: Autonomy, Navigation, and Mobility Solutions. Nathan Miller, one of our Software Engineers for the Inertial Product Group, presented "Understanding and Using GPS/INS Sensors in Robotic Applications," which provides viewers an introduction to GPS/INS systems, including their advantages, limitations, and the nuances of their use. He also provided a brief introduction to the theory and practical implementation of Kalman Filtering, which is the fundamental algorithm used for GPS/INS integration. The video presentation can still be viewed on the Robotics Trends event website. Simply register here for free, and visit the auditorium in the virtual show to view the session! |
AUVSI 2011: Visit MicroStrain at the Premier Forum for the Unmanned Systems Market
MicroStrain will be exhibiting at AUVSI's Unmanned Systems North America 2011 at booth #700 from August 16-19th at the Walter E, Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C USA. AUVSI's Unmanned Systems event is the premier forum for reviewing, assessing, and discussing the current state of the unmanned systems market. The event brings together the key leaders and decision-makers in the industry. Officials from government and user organization around the world attend and participate in the symposium program.
MicroStrain will be featuring our line of inertial and orientation sensors, and highlighting the newest in our line of GX3 Inertial Navigation Units with advanced functionality.
